She had herself a very busy month!
Savannah celebrated Father's Day with her daddy, visited the grocery store for the very first time. Yes,I can be overprotective from time to time...but you would be too if the country you lived in had SARS cases. She interacted with another baby her age for the first time during a brunch.
She also had her first plane ride and received her first stamp in her passport!
We took a trip around Father's Day to Jordan. It was wonderful! Savannah got to visit Amman, the capital city, the Dead Sea (slept through it) and most importantly, the site of Jesus' baptism (slept through this too)!
We also had the mission of bringing back water from the River Jordan from the baptism site for Savannah's own baptism next month. Mission accomplished!
She got to meet the local livestock when our fabulous driver & tour guide decided to run off with her while helping me unload her from the car during a pit stop! It made for a classic photo op of Savannah meeting sheep, though at the time, I was pretty nervous.
Savannah also got to swim in a pool for the first time...er, well be held while her daddy floated.
She was pretty upset when we first tried to put her in her floating seat. The next day we tried it again and she was cautious and skeptical, but let us carry her in all the way up to her shoulders.
On the flight there, she was the perfect travel baby. She smiled her way through checking in, security, boarding. She took her bottle during takeoff, then promptly took a nap. She slept most of the way, only waking right before landing. The only incident was when she swung around a little too quickly and knocked tomato juice all over me and her daddy. No biggie-dry cleaning at the resort took care of it.
The way back was a hard earned lesson for mommy & daddy about Savannah's bedtime.
Savannah is a creature of habit. Pretty early on, we realized she is happiest when she has a pretty set schedule. Well, we not-so-thoughtfully booked the return flight in the afternoon/early evening...landing right past her normal bedtime.
Savannah has a set bedtime routine every night...playtime, solids meal, 15-20 minutes of playtime with daddy, bath time or sponge bath, lotion & baby massage, bottle in her darkened room then laying down in her crib for sleepy time.
Savannah was NOT cool with us disrupting that. Oh boy, did she let us have it. Soon after takeoff, she started getting fussy. It didn't easy up for pretty much the entire 3 hour flight.
Until Savannah is a little older, we will start all our journeys in the morning!
Next month will be a challenge as we have a 16 hour direct flight from Dubai to Houston!
Favorites this month:
Bath time still tops the list
Puréed papaya
Singing
Attempting to crawl
Dislikes:
Having shirts or dresses pulled over her head
